Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra: Specs, Price Rumors & Release Date

Microsoft calls the Surface Laptop Ultra the most powerful Surface Laptop it has ever built. Announced at Computex 2026 and powered by NVIDIA's new RTX Spark chip, it's a 15-inch machine aimed squarely at creators, developers and AI builders, and Microsoft's clearest answer yet to the MacBook Pro.

What Is the Surface Laptop Ultra?

It's Microsoft's first laptop to pair an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 128GB of unified memory and full CUDA support, running Windows on Arm. Microsoft says it was built in a partnership between Windows, Surface and NVIDIA, and positions it for "a kind of work that does not fit in a standard laptop."

The announcement came with a notable bit of history: Microsoft's first Windows on Arm Surface also used an NVIDIA chip, and it flopped. This is the company's second attempt.

Microsoft is clearly chasing Apple's pro laptops. Unified memory, strong efficiency and workstation-class graphics are the MacBook Pro's home turf, and Surface Laptop Ultra now matches the 128GB ceiling.

Price: What We Know (and Don't)

Microsoft has not announced official pricing. The only figure circulating is a rumor from reliable leaker Roland Quandt, who suggested:

A configuration with a lower-end RTX Spark chip, 32GB RAM and 1TB storage could land around €2,000.

He also hinted this could be a starting price with higher tiers above it. For comparison, Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro starts at $2,999 in the US.

Release Date

Microsoft says the Surface Laptop Ultra will arrive "later this year", with reports pointing to fall 2026.
