Dash documentation
Introduction
Meet Dash, the terminal-native AI coding agent by Neuro.
What is Dash?
Dash is an AI-powered coding agent that lives in your terminal. Install it once, open it in any project folder, and work with an AI assistant that can read and edit your files, search your codebase, run commands, use git, and track its own plan — all inside a single interactive TUI.
npm install -g "@neuro.corp/dash"
dashWhat problems does it solve?
- Context switching. Dash runs where you already work. You do not need to copy code into a browser tab or IDE extension to explain your problem.
- Repetitive edits. Dash can read files, apply exact text edits, and verify results with your linter or build, so routine refactors and fixes are handled for you.
- Loss of track. Long tasks are kept on an explicit task checklist, and every edit is recorded as a checkpoint you can roll back if needed.
- One-off helpers. Instead of writing scripts to explore a repo, ask Dash to search, summarize, and inspect your project directly.
Capabilities
- World-readable workspace tools: list, find, read, search, and inspect project files.
- Code editing tools: create, replace, multi-edit, delete/rename/move files — with explicit approvals.
- Command execution: run arbitrary shell commands (each one explicitly approved by you) and manage long-running processes.
- Structured git operations: status, diff, log, commit, branch, checkout.
- Diagnostics: run lint, typecheck, or build and get structured errors back.
- Web tools: search the web and fetch pages as markdown.
- Sessions, a task checklist, persistent memory, and code checkpoints you can roll back.
- AI inference through the NVIDIA NIM API using your own API key.
Current limitations
- The current published release ships a Windows
dash.exebinary, so the package currently targets Windows hosts. - Dash currently integrates one AI provider: NVIDIA (NIM API). Additional providers are not supported yet.
- API keys are configured interactively inside the TUI — there is no headless or non-interactive mode in this release.
- Model availability depends on the models NVIDIA serves for your API key.
Prerequisites
- A Windows machine (the current release ships a Windows executable).
- Node.js 20 or newer with its bundled npm.
- A terminal (Windows Terminal, PowerShell, or cmd).
- An NVIDIA API key created from your NVIDIA account to use model features.
