Dash documentation

Installation

Get Dash installed on your machine in under a minute.

Requirements#

  • Node.js 20 or newer. The package declares node >= 20 in its engines field; Node 20 brings a compatible npm with it.
  • Windows. The distributed package ships a native Windows executable (dist/dash.exe).
  • Roughly 100 MB of disk for the bundled executable.

Install globally#

Install Dash on your machine as a global npm package, so the dash command is available everywhere:

npm
npm install -g "@neuro.corp/dash"

This installs the package @neuro.corp/dash and places the dash launcher on your global npm bin directory.

Verify the installation#

Open a terminal in any folder and start Dash:

shell
dash

Dash starts its interactive terminal UI. You can leave it again by using the /exit command or by closing the terminal tab. Dash does currently not implement command-line flags such as --help or --version — launching it opens the TUI directly.

Common installation problems#

  • Node version too old. npm install fails with an engine error. Update Node to version 20 or newer, then retry the install.
  • dash is not recognized. Your global npm bin directory is not on PATH. Check npm bin -g (or npm prefix -g) and add the shown directory to PATH, then reopen the terminal.
  • Permission errors. Run the install from an elevated prompt or fix your npm prefix, then retry.
  • Corporate proxy or registry restrictions. Make sure npm can reach your registry and that the package scope @neuro.corp is not blocked.
